Becoming a World-Class Christian

The last time I was in Nicaragua, David Robinson gave me a book to read and use entitled A Purpose Driven Life. I had every intention of reading it, but never followed thru with those plans. 38 days ago I decided I was going to get it out and start it over.

Today: Day 38: Becoming a World-Class Christian

"Jesus said to His followers, Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone."
                              Mark 16:15 NCV

"Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind."
                              Psalms 67:2 LB

Today's reading talked about the choice you must make to be either a world-class Christian or a worldly Christian. Worldly Christians mainly look to God for personal fulfillment. Their prayers focus on their own needs, blessings and happiness...a "me-first" faith. They want to use God for their purposes instead of being used for His purpose. World-class Christians wake up each morning expecting God to do work through them. Their joy, confidence and enthusiasm is contagious! They know they can make a difference!

Day 38 also points out that many Christians have missed God's plan for their lives because they have never asked God for their life plan...... "
Yes, Lord! I am listening! I hear You LOUD AND CLEAR" :)

Day 38 "YELLED" at me as I was reading! How I long to be the Christian the Lord wants me to be!

I know that the Lord works all things according to His plan, yet I am still amazed when small things, such as a devotional reading, come at just the right time! I am one day closer to being in El Salvador loving on some precious "babies"....and I cannot wait to get there!

New to this.....

So, not sure how this is going to turn out, but I am going to give it a shot! I have been informed that this is the best way to keep everyone up to date on my future mission trips. I am not great with words, but I feel like I can at least let you guys know what is going on while I am away.

"Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
                                                                               James 1:27 NKJV

I am SO looking forward to my trip to El Salvador next week! My friend Merany and I will be leaving from Memphis on Monday morning at 6am and should be in ES some time around 1 or 2pm. While we are there we will be working in a few orphanages or centers . A boys' center, a special needs center, and an 'intake' center. The intake center is where the kids come in from the streets, hospitals, or homes where they can not stay due to abuse, poverty or any other reason. I have only seen pictures of the way things are 'run' in El Salvador and I can already let all of you know we take SO MANY things for granted!

I want to ask each of you to begin praying for this trip! I know God has something in store, not only for those that are in ES, but also for Merany and I. Pray that those children will FEEL the LOVE we have to offer, pray for peace in their life, and pray that we will be placed in God's will while we are gone.
